About Halcyon Samui Properties

Halcyon Samui Properties is a boutique real estate company based on the beautiful island of Koh Samui. We specialise in luxury holiday villa rentals and sales of villas and resort developments on the island and personally inspect and photograph all the properties in our portfolio prior to listing. Rental villas have typically between 3 to 5 bedrooms with swimming pool and most of them are either beach front or sea view villas with daily rental rates starting from US$ 220 per day equivalent to US$ 36 per person per day. The daily rental rates are comparable on a per person basis to the four and five star hotels on the island.

Our portfolio of luxury villas are all hand picked by our team and represent the finest accommodation and standard of service on Koh Samui. Most of our rental villas have up to three full time staff to pamper our guests during their stay on Koh Samui. We also offer villas for sale as well as for holiday rental and have a selection of prime pieces of land for sale.

Management Profile

Robert and Charlotte Honey are the young, dynamic brother and sister team behind Halcyon Samui Properties. Their father, Patrick Honey, is CEO of the recently launched Himmapan Beach Resort and Spa project, which is set to transform Samui's northern coast in the next five years, providing the island's first fully comprehensive, multi-functional resort and leisure facility.

Born in the UK, but raised in Zimbabwe, Antigua and southern Spain, Robert and Charlotte have a broad experience of the world, not to mention a sound knowledge of both the hotel and real estate business based on their father's impressive 30-year career as MD for a number of major hotels and resorts around the world. Returning to the UK to finish their education, Robert completed his tertiary studies, graduating from Dundee University with a M.A Honours in Politics and Spanish, while Charlotte worked in the same city on reservations and at the front desk of the Hilton Hotel.  Both have previously spent time in Thailand, so when an opportunity arose to live and work on Samui, they jumped at the chance.

"I spent 6 months working as a volunteer with the Father Ray Foundation Orphanage in Pattaya," said Charlotte. “I learnt a lot about the country and its people, so relocating was a natural progression." Robert, meanwhile, had travelled to Phuket on previous visits and immediately understood the country's appeal. "Thailand is one of the most attractive destinations in the world," he said, "It will always be a popular place for people, whatever their nationality and Samui is only just beginning to fulfill it’s potential. It's a great time to be doing business here."

Halcyon Properties specialises in exclusive villas and resort developments. Robert and Charlotte hand-pick the company's portfolio of properties and they personally inspect and photograph all the villas to guarantee the absolute best for their clients. The company offers villas for sale, as well as holiday rentals, with purchase prices from $250,000 to $3,000,000 and rental rates comparable on a per person rate to the island's 4 and 5 Star Hotels. "The main core of our business is rentals," explained Charlotte. "Samui will always be a holiday destination and it's the rental and hotel market that keeps the island alive. “ On the business front, despite the current economic downturn, Robert believes Samui will soon bounce back bigger and better than ever. Just as Bali's economy recovered from the bombings and Phuket from the Tsunami, he feels the recent political upheaval will soon be forgotten. Citing the arrival of big brands like Ritz Carlton, Conrad and other international chains, he feels the best is yet to come. “We’re still very confident about Samui, “he said, "It's the best place in Thailand as far as we're concerned and we're certainly not alone in thinking that."

Although neither the first nor the only real estate company on Samui, Halcyon Samui Properties offer their clients a range of attractive differentiators, which help the firm stand out in terms of quality and service. The company boasts a full database driven website, operated by specially designed real estate software. The site features their own high quality photographs with high pixel ratios and they even include streaming videos of the majority of properties offered for sale and rent. In the coming months, Halcyon also plan to launch a central reservations system for villa clients with real time bookings that can be made online, via the Global Distribution System (GDS) commonly used by tour operators and travel agents.

"We have a stylish, user-friendly website and we're not about giving false impressions," said Robert. "We respond personally to enquiries within twenty-four hours and we give honest, useful advice about every aspect of the island, from the villas themselves to the leisure options available. We've tried almost everything personally, so we give good advice."

The majority of the villas on Halcyon's books come with management and therefore staff that take care of everything from cleaning to cooking and in-villa spa treatments. Robert and Charlotte only work with the Samui's most reputable companies and owners. They are determined to build and stand by their reputation for providing the finest standards on Samui. As a clear demonstration of their energy and drive, Halcyon Phuket Properties is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of this year. With Robert and Charlotte's intelligence and energy behind it, plus the experience and benefits of a family association with one of the region's most ambitious hospitality projects, the company seems set for success.
